Hey Chad! Welcome back! I hope the new forums didn't take you too much by surprise. I personally loved the coverage of the "Down Under" trucks in ST. I hope you will do some more features for the mag. I'd love to visit Australia someday, and see your guys' car culture down there. From the sound of things, you guys are probably going to make the new Camaro and GTO!

Australia has some SIIIIICK trucks DANG!

I read that the Australian laws are pretty strict for minitrucks? Like there's a law for everything, and it has to be approved?

Tell me more!

Yeah we have some nice trucks over here..
We have some stupid laws over here, in Queensland airbags are actually illegal...For almost any modifications we need to get it inspected by an Engineer. Engineers cost about $500 Australian for each inspection.
My Truck is the one in the magazine with the tilt tray which is airbrushed, i've had fines for it being to low, too loud, wheels to wide, etc etc...
The police usually aren't that bad but if you do get pulled over it can just be a hassle, we have to put our vehicles back to stock and get it passed for roadworthy again, this is a hassle as we only return our trucks to being modified anyway..

Hey!
Yeah actually police over here and be kinda bad sometimes... my brother just an unsafe suspension ticket just drivin' normal down the road, and I avoid certain areas because of harrassment.
My impression is that here nothing is "legal", they can get you for just about anything aftermarket or any variation from stock... it's more a matter of don't get caught. Or, play it cool if you do get pulled over.
Luckily my only ticket has been for window tint, and even that turned into a big deal with court and a lawyer.
