Do you think that Suede will fall off like tweed did?
A couple of years ago tweed was on everything, probably because it’s easy to wrap just about anything with it and it was cheap to buy. Tweed has now become kind of dated and is showing up less and less. You think suede will follow suit, or hold strong. It's not as cheap to buy as tweed but it does have a higher class look, IMHO.

I don't know if it will ever totally disappear. There's no question a nicely-done suede interior is really a show-stopper. In terms of interiors & upholstery, I think what really makes it is the quality of the workmanship. You could have the best materials, but if the guy doesn't know what he's doing, it's going to look like @$$. Consequently, even "plain" materials can look stunning when done right and creatively.

Suede is nice IN MODERATION!!!! Full suede interiors look somewhat dirty in pictures because of the knap in the material. My opinion, it should be used for headliners and seat inserts and other limited small items.

Velour interiors were once popular, then tweed, and now suede. Leather and vinyl are always around. There are always animal prints and other exotic materials. Personally I think one should do what you like and if someone else doesn't, so what. I have to agree that suede really only looks good in moderation. I still like a nicely done tweed job, but most of the time you see way to many seams when you shouldn't. In my courier I'm using white marine vinyl and green fur-just for the fun of it

is tweed a thing of the past? I don't think so, but I'm just wondering what the general perception on tweed is.

I think tweed still looks great. An all single color tweed interior-especially gray-can be kinda boring or generic looking. Two-tone tweed or tweed and another material looks good generally. I don't think tweed is a thing of the past but there are other options if you so desire. But I still use tweed in many of my rides.

my tweed has a bunch of colors in it, so that one direction it looks really purple, another blue, and another, greyish. I wanted multi-color because the outside color of the truck changes with sunlight, so matching becomes problematic (unless I had just gone for a contrasting color completely).

tweed was popular because you can dye it any color you like, its very thin and flexible, which makes wrapping panels and having them go back together well, easy, and its dirt cheap at 4-5 bucks a yard.
but tweed now looks dated, like the other trends from the 90's. Suede in moderation will likely never go out of style but we'll see an end to the full wrap jobs because they dont always look good, they dont last because suede isn't durable, and you can always have too much of a good thing.

so what are today's interior trends? fuzz stuff, animal prints? is tweed perhaps just practical, but not necessarily a trend that came and is now gone?

its cyclical just like everything else. tweed will be back at some point, the same way lowered trucks are starting to make a comeback.
the animal and fuzz stuff is on its way out.
painted plastic isn't going anywhere soon.
i say leather will start popping up more and more as the bar for a custom truck has been set so freakin' high now. we'll see more street rod influence coming our way and that will include more leather in the trucks of those that can afford it.
