Working on a custom '80 stepside pickup, and the interior consists of bucket seats. Looking for a possible "easy" option for the center console aside from building one from scratch(if I have to get that done, I will).

Ideas? Any newer models have consoles that fit nicely?

Or an easy method to build one from scratch?

Your best bet might be to wander around a few junk yards, most newer SUV's have a console in them. You can also look into a console from the 67 to 72 chevy C/10. They are taller than car consoles so it lines up with the seats nicely. Also, these are pretty flat on the bottom so it won't take much to install it.

nah i wouldn't go the junkyard route your best bet would be getting some mdf and teach yourself to fiberglass..it's not that bad just wear gloves and if need be i'd have it painted but thats what i would do...if it were a show truck at least...if not just build one out of sheet metal...or you could use the mdf and cover it with vinyl or leather

I would just take some larger pieces of cardboard and design your own. Make your paterns from the cardboard and some masking tape. The take those pieces of cardboard and use them as a template for the mdf board. The assemble all those pieces and wrap the entire thing in fiberglass. It's pretty easy, just time consuming. I'm guessing you can go without the center consol for awhile until you get it finished. Custom always looks better than taking a stock one from some other vehicle and throwing it in there. Just my opinion.

If it doesn't scrape tarmac, it doesn't need to roll!
