I just picked up this 80 d-100 Got it from a guy who cut the front coils and torched the rear leafs - neither of which I am really bothered by, except the rear still isnt low enough - Its got about a 2 inch rake still, and I would like to at least flatten it out - I know about the drop shackles, but dunno how they might work with the torched leafs already - any ideas? This is a less than low buck truck, so im hopin for some creative and CHEAP solutions thanks!

I dont think the shackles would hurt anything.

Shackles will work, and they won't really affect anything other than the ride height. Other options include removing one of the leaves from the rear spring pack or installing a flip kit. I'm not sure if you can find a flip kit specifically for the D-100 but if you measure the axel tube and the pad welded to the rear end you might be able to locate something that will bolt on from a different application.

You can make a flip kit with a little welding help. Get axle saddles from Mopar Performance. Get the Spring brackets/shock mounts from a late 70's Mopar car. NOTE: Donor car must be a V8 or axle tubes will be too small. Have somebody with a little experience weld the new saddles on being sure to set pinion angle, place axle on new spring brackets and wah-lah! This is of course a condensed version but you get the idea. I know it works because I did it on my '78... My crappy picture pages.
