Get the factory air box in the trashcan with a quicknes and strap on a cold air intake with a K&N filter.  I just built one for a buddy for his Camaro for $80.00 and $60.00 0f that was for the filter.  $250.00. from the local hot rod merchant!!  Instantly gained 15 horespower.  Pretty cheap and easy ponies.  Summit Racing sells go fast parts for the Vortec V6.  Good motor.

I just put a MAC cold air intake on. I noticed quite a difference in power all around. Thanks

I'm sorry, but you're wasting your time. It's going to cost you THOUSANDS of dollars to try to get your V-6 to keep up with the V-8.... ain't worth it. Just admit that he is faster and keep your wallet happy.

Solution:   Put the best gasoline you can buy into your truck, drive here, buy my SRT-10 for newly lowered price (gttaluvme@hotmail.com), dump your truck and enjoy a real truck with 500 h.p. and 25,000 miles remaining on the factory warranty!!!

You have obviously never been in an SRT-10.  I have two and one is for sale.  I wish this guy well with his V-6 but buying an SRT-10 is truly an excellent alternative and this is not about gas prices.  The regular cab SRT-10s are not too bad on gas and are a total package vehicle with power, brakes, suspension and they just plain feel good to drive.  Good Luck

If you're gonna do an SRT-10, you have to buy the 2001 and older ram becaues they weigh 3/4 of a ton less than the newer ones, they're cheap. Get an old cast iron Viper block put the new heads on it and you have even more power than the SRT-10's.  My pops used to work for chrysler and he worked on viper motors, so hes know quite a bit about them.

I had a dodge with the 5.9 and had a ton of trouble out of it, so i wont get another one. Dont get me wrong the SRT 10's are sweet but i cant afford no 30 thousand dollars. So i got to work with what i got.

My buddy said that getting rid of the stock fan and replacing it with a 14" electric fan would add 10-15 horses, is it true? Cause i dont wanna spend $140 for one and it not do anything.

You will free up some horsepower by installing an electric fan but how much is hard to say. Just make sure your alternator has enough juice to handle the new fan. - calin
