I've got a 68 Dodge w/ 8ft bed & 383 magnum. I'm looking to lower (not slam) the truck for a nice aggressive/sporty look and throw some decent wheels on it. I'm just not sure where to begin looking. Anyone have any web sites i can go to for lowering this classic?

Any ideas for rims would be great. I'm clueless on where to go with this truck. I have it painted white right now but i'm thinking what if i leave the cab white & the rest of the body that classic green color (seen on most old skool chevys). Any advice/help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Swifty

This is not my truck but this is the exact year, body style, bed size. My truck is more than a couple of feet off the ground. I'd love to bag it but I want to keep it mostly stock as far as body. If I bagged it, I'd have to cut into the bed and thats the last thing I want to do.

As far as paint, I'm thinking Blue top half with the cab and bottum half of the truck's body white. The reason I chose blue is because I've already had my truck reapolstered(sp?) white & blue.

I'm still not sure on rims. I'm thinking 22" wheels that are mostly full. Not sure how to explain that. I'm not sure if they make them in 22" but I'd like a fat white wall.

I'm still lost on what to do about the suspension. Thats where I need the most help...

Swifty,

This is a guess but if my memory serves me correctly your truck is a straight axel in front. If that is the case you need to either find a dropped axel on line (I couldn't find one) or get a set of de-arched springs from a source like Eaton/spring. The other option, which most go with is to swap out the front clip all together and weld in one from a later truck. This will give you updated brakes and steering. The things you need to know before choosing a front clip is width of the suspension and width of the frame rails. Here is a link to a guy who did it with an El Camino clip.

Hope this help and if you need more info let me know-Calin

Thanks for the help but i don't have any welding skills or knowledge when it comes to suspension. The sport truck scene is completly new for me. I'd really like to keep the truck as stock as possible but still giving it a nice stance/look.

I might have access to a complete 68 dodge short bed that i could have bags installed and do all the cuttin i want to it. The bed has rust holes & the floor board is completly rusted out. That would be a good truck to cut up & add newer parts to. I just don't have the skills or knowledge to do it myself & paying people to do it adds up. Is there any way to make a budget build as far as bags & suspension goes?
