Hey, I've got a 2001 Chevy Blazer Xtreme that I love, all except for the automatic tranny. I would like to investigate more into perhaps swapping it out for a manual. I know it'll be expensive and labor-intensive, but if it's doable it'll be worth it. I've got the stock 190hp 4.3L Vortec V6 with the automatic transmission (I think it's the 4L60E) in the 2 door 2WD Blazer, all of which is, unfortunately, incredibly stock. Also, if it might help (or hurt), it has a Bose sound system, has the shifter on the floor, not on the steering column, and has cruise control. Can someone help me get a better idea than "this is going to be really hard"? I keep reading I should purchase the pedals and linkage (I'm not sure what's meant by linkage) from a similar vehicle - does it have to be a Blazer, or can it be a regular cab S10? Also, I've read that with the T5 I'd be switching to the u-joint is different and the drive shaft is a different length, and the rear differential has a different gear ratio. And what about the ECM or PCM or whatever it's called in this application? All of this sounds pretty scary, but the specific vehicles involved in the reports I read were older than 1999. Sorry for the really long post but I would greatly appreciate any help.

My advice is to search the salvage yards and find an S10 truck or Blazer and take everything related to the transmission. You will definitely need the pedal assembly with the clutch master cylinder. The pedal assembly shouold bolt right under the dash once you get hte stock stuff out. The ECM might be different because of the neutral safety feature but I'm not totally sure on that one. Don't worry too much about the driveshaft and U-Joints there are a lot of places that can modify your drive shaft to fit you new parameters once you've made the swap. Since the 4L60E has a 0.7 over drive ratio and the NV3500 has a 0.73 over drive the rear end gear ratios should be the same. I hope this helps and if you need more info let me know-Calin
