I'll try to keep this short...
I have a 93 K1500 that I put a mild 383 stroker into - eagle crank - mild cam with stock heads and upgraded springs.  basically a build suggested by Brian at TBIchips.com that he's done many times and I'm using one of his chips.  Engine compression should be in the low 9's.

I haven't even driven it yet other than going down the block...  I can't get it to stop pinging.  Gas is 93 octane but Brian says I should be able to run 87 in it.  I've retarted the timing way out with no effect.  Changed the dist.  I was able to swap an ECM with no change.  I took to a mechanic and he checked out all the sensors OK, ran a compression check at 205 psi...  he thought with that much pressure I'm probably closer to 10.5:1.

The machinist that built the motor says he used 9:1 pistons.  I'm going to get them scoped to see what is actually in there but assuming he used the wrong ones what options would I have?

-machine the bowls in current heads?
-aluminum heads?
-older iron heads?

at this point i'm already over budget and don't want to keep sinking $$$ into this.  Any suggestions?

thanks
