hey guys i'm new here and am hoping someone here can help me with with some questions i have on lowering my 97 F-150 2wd.
i'm buying a used djm 4/6 kit that comes with the flip kit for the rear and lower control arms and springs for the front.
now the guy who i'm buying the kit from only had the lower arms on his truck but i was wondering if i should buy the upper arms. what do they affect? will the truck handle and different? and will be it harder to align the front end without them.
also can anyone recommend shocks ?

From my experience with the DJM kits, you shouldnt have any problems at all having the truck aligned. Your truck should actually handle better, but the ride will be a slight bit stiffer. I would also recommend Doeshtech (sp) shocks. Alot of guys run those on their static dropped and even bagged trucks.

thanks man. so you dont think i really need the upper control arms? i fiquire that they help with the negative camber?
i'm going to drop it on the stock shocks for now because i know it can be done. then when funds are back up i'm going to get the drop shocks and control arms if i need them.

You shouldnt need the uppers, but they may help with the camber and may actually help the truck handle even better. Just lower it and see how it goes. I'm sure you'll be happy and once your able to get new shocks, you'll like it even more. Not dogging the shocks DJM sells as add ons to there kits at all, but they are way to soft in my opinion. Enjoy the lowered stance!

thanks man i dropped the front end last night. i left the control arms off and just used the drop springs so that the camber would not be affected that much. turns out i got 2 inches of drop and no noticeable negative camber.
going to flip the rear today. then when i get the cash i'm going to get the shocks, install them and the lower control arms when i have time to go get an alignment.
my friend has a set of drop shocks for a ranger that have the same mounts as mine and i was wondering if they would work on a full size if if the shock wouldn't be big enough for the truck?
thanks again for your help.
