Has anybody seen or swapped a Silverado 3500 Dually bed onto a Silverado 1500? I have a 99 long bed and have the chance to get a 04 dually bed cheap and want to do the swap. The main reason for this is to put monster tires under the bed but I do not know what rims will work. Will I need custom rims or will it be cheaper to swap in a different rear with 5 lugs so I have more rim choices? The truck will be 3"-4" static dropped as well.

Too many questions!!!

HELP!!!

that's two different generations of trucks. the body lines are going to be different. Mickey Thompson makes a super wide single rear wheel and tire combo. or  you could find a dually rear axle and run dually wheels. there are a ton of dually wheel manufacturers out there now.

No Mike, I mean the same body style. The dually bed is from a 2005 3500 Silverado. I passed on the bed anyways.....but I still have a chance to buy it if I wish. It's nice to have options!

a 1999 dually and 2005 dually shouldnt have the same body style. they kept the older body style to 2000 didn't they?

You are right Mike.....but I am talking about swapping a bed from a new (now old) body style dually onto a new (now old) body style Silverado that is not a dually.

Regardless I'm not doing it. I would like to mini-tub my truck though. Any thoughts?

...and if I mini-tub can I buy wheels with more offset to the back that don't cost more than the truck is worth?

mickey thompson has super wide wheels and tires with the right offset to make a phantom dually....not sure on price though
