Hey guys! Just bought a 1990 GMC Sierra 1500. Runnin a 4.3L V6 hooked up to a 5-Speed manual transmission. I was looking into swappin a V8 into her. but I don't wanna have to convert it to an automatic. Will my 5-Speed tranny hook up properly to a 305 or a 350? Or any small block? I was told the 4.3 is a 350 without the back 2 cylinders. and that the 305 and the 350 share the same block and what not, but have a different bore & stroke.

Basically to sum it all up. I want to swap a V8 in, but I want to keep it a Manual, however, the 88-98's with the V8 only came in automatic. Will the 5-speed tranny i have now, hook up to any V8?? if anyone out there can help me out, let me know. (or at least point me in the right direction)

What trans do you have in your truck? I had an 89 c1500 and it had a NV manual trans and a 5.7 and man was it fun.
