I put 305/40/22's on my 07' sierra quad cab. When I did, not only did I have to trim the wheel wells, but I lost 2-3 MPG. Is this common? The truck drives straight with a little shake at 55. Will a wheel alignment halp with the MPG at all?

I don't think so. While getting the alignment correct will decrees rolling resistance the MPG gains will be minor. The reason you lost MPG is due to the added weight of the wheel and tire combo. It takes more power to turn the heavier rolling stock.

I didnt thinks so. What suprised me most was that I experienced it on the highway as well as city.

Are the new wheels a larger diameter than the old ones? that will affect the final drive ratio and certainly will affect your mpg. if the gearing with the new tires is such that the engine is operating at a lower rpm on the highway, then you'll have to give it more throttle to achieve the same speed.
