That truck should be running 8.70's......all that engine, spray, and the rest of the "look" of a pro stock truck with no substance! First pass or not, listen to the idle! When that light goes green it should be let'em hang!!! One pass and he was done? Air bag suspension or not it was far from impressive.
The truck owner needs to get it back to the track and lay down a real number.

To his defense, the difference between an 11.7 second truck and 8.7 truck would be tremendous...it really isn't a pro stock truck haha. It's all relative. And yeah, it could do more, but I wouldn't say it was "far from impressive." Far from impressive would be rolling it off the trailer and not even running it, which I would say is more common in the realm of taking this type of truck to a truck show, no? I don't think he intended on running it for a time. So I'm going with thumbs up, that's still decent and was way quicker than all but a few of the really built diesel race trucks and of course the diesel dragster.

Understood....but a 582ci Dart Motor pushing 800hp "on the motor" is a 9 second powerplant. Even if it's a high 9 it can easily be sprayed to a mid 8. Unlike other custom trucks in this magazine THIS truck certainly looks the part of a "drag strip" vehicle....funny car roll cage? All show and no go is a 90's thing! I'm not saying he has to always run the truck hard BUT 1 pass and settle for a 11.70? I'd expect a LOT more from my $25000+ powerplant.

I'm a drag racer first....I'm new to the truck scene....
I understand the expense of the build and wanting to cherish the new build but there is no greater thrill than laying down a wicked pass on your fresh vehicle/motor. Firing it up, fenders shaking, hearing body panels vibrating, the sweet smell of 108 octane...what a rush!

understood, for sure. From what I understand, something broke that prevented a second run.

before we get all crazy, there were a couple of reasons it only went into the 11's.
the truck was fresh off the trailer and had never been driven except around the block at his house.
he only planned on entering it into the show and not racing it. we talked him into it.
he forgot and left a 5,000 rpm rev limit chip in the msd box and it went down the track on the rev limiter, which bent a few pushrods.
he'll be back and i'm sure it'll run much harder.
