As an audio installer, I got a gripe

Calin, Im loving your truck and Im building a 1st gen S-10 Blazer on the cheap so I know the pains. The audio install bugs me big time. The fuse for the battery is on the firewall and the battery is in the stock location. This means that the protection for the battery is about 2- 2 1/2 feet away, not good. I know sound competition judges that would kindly see that your truck was escorted off the grounds and your admission price refunded to you for that. All judging bodies say no more than 18" and the less the better! Also the ground for the amp. The ring terminal is way too big, theres no star washer or second screw to fill the hole or try to keep the terminal from moving, and theres no covering over the bare metal like silicone or some paint, something!
   Maybe Im a tad anal about this, but I have about 13 years in the bay and Id hate to see a freshly finished truck have issues or even burn to the ground due to a power wire not being protected till its almost half way across the engine! Also, another good way to help out the charging system would have been to upgrade the ground on the battery to match the new power wire ran. Also to get the most out of the new alternator, upgrading the power and grounds coming off the new unit would go a long ways. Us guys in the audio and custom world call it the Big 3 upgrade. Its really kinda simple and if you'd like somebody to do a tech article on it, Id be more than happy (and use better grammar and punctuation than I did in this!).
let me know....

Thanks for all the advice. I understand that my truck is not wired per sound competition levels, but it is still working fine. I understand having the fuse that far away is not optimal but a fire hazard? I will agree with the ground wire ring terminal being too large and have since replaced it with the proper size. The battery cables will be changed shortly, when I install the new motor.

I'm sorry the story was not up to your standards but hopefully you at least got a feel for the new slim sub, which was the main part.
