i have been having some transmission problems. i changed the filter and fluids recently and it helped some of my problems but created some new ones. i can be going donw the road and it will slip in and out of gear. i have been told i need a rebuild. wanting to know exactly how to go about rebuilding it, or maybe some things i can try first.the truck has the 5.2 in it and i believe its the A518 tranny. and also any ideas on modifying the transmission for better performance and shifting?

1. what fluid did you use? you should be using ATF+3 or ATF+4. if you used anything else, it will screw up your trans. 2. go back and check your fluid level. you need to check it with the engine warm, not hot, with the truck level and in neutral with the parking brake set. cycle the shifter through the gears twice before putting in neutral. pull the dipstick out, clean it, and then put it back in to check the level. too much fluid is just as bad as not enough.
