I have a 1990 Dodge D150 Extended cab. I want to do a engine swap with and engine that has better horse power, and the wiper switch dilemma is mine is *** broken and it is a discontinued part. I have searched junk yards and even broke down and called the dealership willing to pay out the ass for one but they do not stock them anymore. If you know of any sites that sell after market parts or if you know where I can find that damn switch PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post the link.

can you take it out... photograph it... post the images to one of the photoposting sites.. like photobucket...
post the image links here so we can see what it looks like... a good view of the connector view also.. so i can read the numbers next to the terminals...
i have tons of parts books.. might be able to come up with something that will work...
and if you have 2 speed... 3 speed.. or wipers with a delay function...
there is a trick to wiper switches.. there is almost always one wire for the PARK function.. that has power as soon as you turn on the key to feed the park switch in the motor..
but.. this park circuit is ONLY POWERED up when the switch is in the OFF position..
this allows you to control the speed of the wiper motor by selecting other wires to power the various windings of the wiper motor.. and when you turn the switch off... the power to the park circuit comes on and continues the WIPING until the motor spins the gear to the PARK location and the circuit is opened . the motor comes to a stop just as the wipers park..
hidden wipers are more complex.. i won't go into those...
let me take a look around..

That is the switch I need and I am aware that rockautos website says that they have it in stock. So I placed the order for it. A week later I got an email from them stating that they no longer carry that switch, and that the part is discontinued. It is mounted on the columnm w/ tilt and pulse wipers. O Riellys doesnt carry it either. It is a pain in the ass because in Texas The high beams have to work to pass state inspections, and unless you got a "hook up" that does them, well Im screwed because that is the switch that controls them.

That Diagram is amazing it shows exactly the part I need. Which is part number 6. The picture in your other post is the exact part. Rockauto just hasnt taken it off their website. They do not carry it anymore due to being a discontinued part.

i don't have one.. but i am fairly good at finding things..
is it just the high beams function that does not work any more..
the high beam switch is #7... its on a different wiring harness... the dimmer switch can be rewired and hooked to a floor mounted dimmer switch .. and that should pass the state test...
lets figure out which of the OEM switches is the proper version...
you can use partsvoice to locate one any where in the country..
if the wiper function is broken.... is there any room on your dash board to mount an 89 switch or a 91 switch..

The High beams are not controlled through the dimmer switch. At first I thought it was so I replaced that switch, Then I checked #7 and it is working just fine if you push the rod down by hand. It just wont pass inspection that way. I have considered the floor switch, it would not need to be wired into the dimmer switch anyways, The electrical wiring harness part is there for the high beams I can wire it into that, but the connector that leads from the control arm to the wiring harness is broken and cant be fixed You posted another picture of it prior to the diagram. That is the switch I need. The 89-91 is the same exact switch.

ok... lets take A GIANT step backwards...
which does NOT work
the turn signal and hazard switch
or the DIMMER switch???
the dimmer switch is activated by push rod 8... there are SLOTS for adjusting the amount of activation movement needed to trip the switch from low to high and back...
adjust the switch... farther up the column.. you may see a small opening in the side of the column.. there is usually a plastic device... -(o)- to keep the rod aligned in the middle.. so it does not bow.. i have found several of the push rods with that clip missing so the dimmer switch rod bows out instead of transferring enough motion to the switch...
still not shown in this drawing..

these tilt columns are Built by the Saginaw steering division. OF General motors...
i would voyage to a junk yard and look through the various chryslers... and also through the various GM cars and trucks... looking for similar tilt columns... and snag the plastic guide off the side of the column.. there is also a guide that controls the ignition actuator rod.. its the same part number as far as i can tell.. but i cannot find that part number.. i don't have a chrysler dealer anywhere close.. and these images may NOT be as detailed as the dealer images...
if you are missing the control rod guide... post that fact.. i will dig into GM parts books that i have access to and see if i can find the proper part number...
best of luck on your term paper...
my friend was going to write his collage thesis on the mass hypnotic effect of rhythmic music and rhythmic speeches on crowds of people.. the group of professors and administrators said ABSOLUTELY NOT !!! i told him to mention it as a joke.. he liked the idea.. he was really smart but slow on the uptake.. he told me of a fight he witnessed.. where the violent person was beating off cops until they outnumbers him 13 to 1.. they hog tied him.. carried him out on a broom stick hands and ankles.. i ask if there was an apply laying around nearby.. yep., why.. should have stuck it in that guys mouth for the perfect effect as they carried him away..

i would gamble that if you followed the dimmer switch harness away from the column mounted dimmer .. that you will find its an EXTENSION harness... that there is a floor mounted connector hidden some ways away under the dash... probably better than 50% chance of that..
